The vibe in Canggu is much more relaxed, with many cafes being outdoors and close to nature.
Seminyak has a more upscale atmosphere and its restaurants can get very busy, so you should always be prepared to line up or book in advance if you want to get a spot in a restaurant.
The views from the restaurants and cafes in Canggu are stunningly beautiful, with many overlooking the rice fields between new villas.
In contrast, the seafront cafes and restaurants of Seminyak have great food and views, but anything off the beach won’t have the best views due to its urbanized center.
Canggu Vs Seminyak: The Cost
Canggu is known for being an affordable spot, with plenty of options for budget travelers.
The cost of accommodation in Canggu tends to be lower than Seminyak and the variety of food stands and cafes make the prices of eating out much more reasonable than those in Seminyak.
Seminyak on the other hand, tends to be a bit pricier than Canggu.
The prices for food and drink are higher due to its high density of fancy restaurants, beach clubs, and rooftop bars that cater to those looking for a luxury experience.
However, there are also cheap options available if you know where to look.
Canggu or Seminyak: Yoga & Fitness Activities
Canggu is home to some of the best yoga and fitness studios in Bali, including popular spots like The Practice, Radiantly Alive, and Samadi.
Yoga classes here are usually outdoors and can be very affordable if you book a package or buy a membership. You’ll also find loads of surf yoga retreats in Canggu if this is something you’re into.
Seminyak also has plenty of options for yoga lovers with several studios offering different kinds of classes, however, they tend to be more expensive than those in Canggu and are generally indoors and air-conditioned.
Alternatively, you can find plenty of cheap drop-in classes at the gyms or private studios around Seminyak.
Canggu Vs Seminyak: Beach Clubs & Nightlife
As a great surfer destination, Canggu is home to some great beach clubs, bars, and nightlife. Although it has a much smaller selection of beach clubs and nightlife than Seminyak, the ones it does offer a more laid-back atmosphere, chill music, and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy a cold beer or cocktail.
Although Finns is the most renowned, I personally prefer Como Beach Club and La Brisa Bali since they are a little more rustic. Make sure to book your day bed a day ahead of time.
Seminyak offers numerous beach clubs and nightlife spots, with everything from high-end bars to more casual restaurants and beach parties. Potato Head Beach Club is the most popular and is a great start to an evening out.
The nightlife in Seminyak is always hopping and you can easily find something to fit your mood – whether it’s a chill beach bar or an upscale cocktail lounge.
Ku De Ta, La Favela, and Woobar are all great spots for some dancing and live music. And while flip flops and a bikini are accepted in bars in Canggu, in Seminyak you’ll need something a little flashier to dance the night away!
