It is also our defining decade, a time to grow, learn, and craft who you want to be in your adulthood.
Making this list turned out to be a little harder than I expected – honestly, how many crazy, life-changing experiences can you realistically achieve before I turn 25? But don’t stress! There is also nothing wrong with bumping any unticked items to your 30 things to do before 30.
So without further ado, here is my 25 before 25 list.

Finance Bucket List Before 25
Starting off with your ultimate financial goals before turning 25!
1. Start investing and building your portfolio
What should I achieve by 25? Learning how to invest and the benefits. When you’re in your early 20’s you have the gift of time on your side.
You have time to recover from losses and grow your growth stocks and you also have more freedom to save and invest. Money in the bank is only losing its value. Make your income work for you via investing and holding a diverse portfolio.
2. Save 5 figures
Saving 5 figures plus will give you more financial freedom in your 20s. In the long term, you are also one step closer to buying your first home, paying for your dream wedding, or going on a trip of a lifetime.
Cut down on expenses where you can such as eating out, buying coffee, shopping online, or drinking with your gals every weekend. Find small ways to reduce your spending and increase your savings. Saving a little each week will go a long way in the long term.
3. Start an emergency fund
Set aside at least 3 months’ income in an emergency fund that you do not touch unless an emergency strikes. Trust me it’s a great safety net to have that will give you peace of mind.
4. Giveback
Donate some money or volunteer your time to give back to the less fortunate. Small contributions can go a very long way.
A simple way to give back is through giving funds when shopping, such as donating $1 via PayPal when making a purchase. Be thankful for all you have and recognize there are a lot less fortunate people out there. Small gestures go a long way.
5. Live on your own
I can’t wait to live on my own in a gorgeous apartment next year! My own space that I can turn into a home that compliments my style and lifestyle.
Although a little more exxy, living on your own is a right of passage in my books. And if you have the means to do so, I say go for it!
I want to live on my own before living with a partner, I have my whole life to do that!
Travel Bucket List Before 25
Moving onto my favorite bucket list before 25 of them all…travel!
6. Solo travel
Traveling solo should be on everyone’s bucket list before 25!
Traveling solo can be one of the most exciting, liberating, and eye-opening experiences.
It will teach you invaluable life lessons whilst creating lifelong memories. When it comes to meeting people, spend a couple of days in a hostel or join a tour group or local meetups such as a pub crawl or wine tasting.
7. Live overseas
Live abroad for at least 6 months to open yourself up to new cultures, ways of living, and adventures.
On my bucket list is to live in New York or Canada whilst working for my current global travel management company. Where do you want to be an expat?
8. Go on a road trip
Roadtrip! Road trip with your partner or friends to experience life on the road. Whether it be New York to Las Vegas like Joey Tribiani and Phoebe Buffet or the Great Ocean Road here in Australia.
There are plenty of sights to see on the road. Create a banger playlist, pack loads of snacks, and have a few road trip games up your sleeve.
9. Travel more in your own country
Spend more time exploring in your own backyard! You’d be surprised how much of your own country or city there is to explore. I explored loads of QLD Australia during the pandemic and have found some of my favorite places of all time.
Booking.comFitness and Fun Bucket List Before 25!
Next up we have your fitness and hobby goals before 25.
10. Hit a fitness goal
Whether it be running a 5k, a half marathon, squatting 50kg or simply joining a gym, set yourself a fitness goal and make it happen!
My fitness goal is to consistently go to the gym 3-4 times every week to build endurance, and strength, and to support my mental health.
11. Learn a new hobby or skill
Stop spending all your free time surfing Netflix and pick up a new skill or hobby! For me, it was the creative outlet of blogging and creating inspiring content.
I have barely scraped the surface when it comes to learning about blogging best practices and that keeps me coming back to learn more.
12. Go to a music festival
Tick off going to a music festival with your best friends or at least seeing one of your friend bands or artists play live! For me, it was Calvin Harris, Flume, and Armin Van Burren. An absolute must on your quarter-life bucket list!
13. Try an adrenaline sport
Jet Skiing, skydiving, bungee jumping, rock climbing, cave diving, scuba diving or white water rafting take your fancy?
No matter what your comfort level is, there is some adventure to be had with pushing your boundaries. For me, it was white water rafting in Cairns and Abseiling in North Queensland.
Jet skiing is for sure up next!
14. Learn how to make your signature cocktail
Margaritas anyone?! Learn how to make your favorite cocktail, but first, make sure you have the essential cocktail kit to get you started!
Invite your friends over and have a cocktail-making competition for some fun!
15. Improve your posture
Shoulders back, chest up, chin down. Invest in good posture, it will save you a whole lot of pain, injury and money in the future.
I love doing pilates once a week to help strengthen and lengthen my postural muscles. And be sure to stretch after every workout or after a long week’s work sitting in an office chair.
Oh, and get a foam roller or a heated neck massager, trust me if you’re an office worker or hold tension in your neck, you will thank me later!
Relationship Goals Before 25
These next 25 before 25 goals are all about friendships, family, and your love life.
16. Host a dinner party
Invite your friends or family over for a dinner party. Get dressed up, set the table beautifully, and cook a delicious meal. It’s also a great way to test your cooking skills.
A practice run is always a good idea to ensure everything goes smoothly. For some recipe inspiration, check out a trusty Donna Hay cookbook.
Worried about the cost? You can also find creative ways to stick to your budget such as swapping the cheese platter with some homemade bruschetta or asking your guests to each bring a bottle of wine of their choice.
17. Go on more dates with your significant other (or go on more first dates!)
Organize more date nights. Single? No problem, get on a dating app or ask a cute guy out to dinner. In a relationship?
Take turns picking a date activity. Dinner, hikes, movies, beach trips, fish and chips by the beach. Get creative and do something different to spice it up!
18. Make a habit of having girls’ nights
Spend more time with your gal pals! Don’t always spend your weekends on date nights with your boyfriend! Reach out to friends you haven’t seen in a few months to catch up over a couple of cocktails.
19. Have dinner with your family
Surprise your family with dinner at a nice restaurant. Or, invite them over and cook a nice dinner for them. This gesture will make their day and be a great way to say thank you outside of the traditional holidays.
Career Achievements Before 25
These are the career achievements I recommend you strive for before hitting your quarter-life crisis!
20. Negotiate a pay rise or promotion
Build the courage to ask for what you want. If you’ve been killing it at work then ask for the recognition you deserve. Worst case scenario, they say no and nothing happens.
Not so bad right?
If no is the answer and you’re deserving of more, maybe it’s time to look elsewhere to ensure you are still growing. Your boss might be much more willing to give you a raise if you’ve got another offer from a competitor. You hold the power after all!
21. Treat yourself to a staple item of clothing
Treat yourself to a designer handbag, some timeless gold jewellery, or a staple little black dress.
You don’t have to break the bank and spend thousands of dollars to treat yourself remember. But don’t sacrifice quality for price when it comes to a staple piece you will use often.
22. Work towards your dream job
Whether it be quitting a job you hate, interviewing for your dream role, or with your dream organization, you have to go for it and create your own career path!
Careers aren’t linear and it is never too late or too early for a career change. Life is too short to be spent working a job 40 hours a week that doesn’t inspire you. If you need some guidance, reach out to a friend or mentor for some advice and direction.
23. Become a morning person
Join the 5 am club. Or maybe the 6 am club is a more reasonable goal. Waking up earlier can give you the power of having that one hour every day to focus on yourself.
Whether you exercise, study, plan, learn a new skill, or meditate doesn’t really matter. This is your time to do whatever you like for yourself. Think of it like your power hour.
Self-Development Bucket List Before 25
Last but by no means least are your personal development goals to strive for!
24. Seek the help you need
Regular Doctors check-ups, skin checks, and for anything you’re unsure about seeking the help you need. The same goes for your mental health.
If you are struggling with some anxiety and are not quite ready to see a therapist (which I highly recommend for anyone wanting to improve their mental health), I recommend you read, Change Your Thinking by Sarah Edleman.
25. Learn to live in the moment
Let go of the past, don’t stress about the future, and enjoy the present. Take the time to notice more of the small things and enjoy the simple pleasures of life to live a happier and more productive life.
Put your phone down every once in a while and just appreciate your surroundings, take it all in.
The Wrap-Up: Bucket List Before 25

I hope this list has inspired you to dream big, aim high and set goals to make it happen.
Now it’s your time to take the time to reflect and set some goals, whether it’s 25 before 25, 30 before 30 or so on.
Making a Pinterest board is a cool way to accomplish all the things you’ve set out to do before 25.
